ALL YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE VISIT EGYPT

  • After arrival, it is VERY IMPORTANT to send us the room number, because the transfer will look for you with it for each excursion. This is the only way for the driver to be sure that he has not confused the customers.
  • From 1.04.23 There is a NEW requirement for all Sea Excursions, namely:
  1.  After a reservation is made, we will need a photo of the entire first page of the passport of all guests, because without it you will not be able to board the yacht.
  • Dollars that you can use in Egypt MUST be issued after 2001 and for sure after 2010, and MUST NOT be scratched, torn or crumpled. Otherwise, they are not accepted and have no value here. This is state policy. It is recommended that they be as small as possible. With the exception of excursions, $100 or $50 bills are not recommended, because most merchants will not give you change. It’s good to get $1 each too.
  • In Egypt there is no exchange rate difference between:

$, €, £ (if the price is 1 $, it is 1 € or 1 £) the choice of which CURRENCY you will use is yours.

  • There is an ATM in every hotel and I recommend if you need to withdraw money from it. In the event of a problem, the hotel can assist in any way, even a small one. You can only withdraw Egyptian pounds from an ATM. A withdrawal fee is charged and you receive the amount at the exchange rate for the day by your bank in Egyptian Pound.
  • In Egypt, you can pay in the following currency:
  1.  Only: American Dollar, Euro, British Pound, Egyptian Pound
  • Payment here is made in cash, and only a very small number of large stores can pay by card.
  • You are in a safe place in Egypt and nothing will happen to you here. The police, who are everywhere, are there just for you, so that you feel calm and protected. Not that there is any danger from something, or an attack, for example. Egyptians are super peaceful and respectful people and will do even the impossible to make you satisfied and come back again. There is no way anything will happen to you, even if you are walking alone at 3 in the morning.
  • For the excursions: Cairo and Luxor, inform the reception in the evening to prepare a dry breakfast for you and to have a late dinner waiting for you.

– ALSO, NO LATER THAN 4 DAYS BEFORE THE EXCURSION, WE WILL NEED YOU TO SEND US A PASSPORT PHOTO TO GET TRAFFIC POLICE PERMISSION TO LEAVE HURGHADA.

  • The day before each excursion, we will inform you about the exact time at which the transfer will arrive and what you will need.

– This means that we must be in contact during your stay.

  • You can buy an Internet card at the airport in Hurghada. After the last scanner, before the exit, there are mobile offices of the operators. The price depends on the gigabytes you choose. The employee takes out your card, puts in the new one, makes the appropriate settings and informs you when you can use it. You have to present your passport and he will draw up a contract that is valid for 1 month. The card is then automatically closed.

– For Cairo, there at the airport, there should also be .

  • It is recommended to make a reservation before arrival or no later than 24 hours before the excursion, such as for Luxor and Cairo up to 3 days in advance.
  • To enter Egypt as a tourist, you must have medical insurance that covers your entire stay. Regardless of whether you or your tour operator makes it, it is VALID, no matter who you decided to be with on the internal excursions.
  • Rules in Egypt for all tourists in case of need for a doctor:
  1.  First you contact your insurer to inform them.
  2.  You will have to pay the amount they tell you in advance:

– the doctor at the hotel

– the hospital

  1.  They will issue you a document that you present to your insurer after you return to get your money back.
  • PAYMENT IS MADE HERE ON SITE BEFORE EACH EXCURSION
  • Water in Egypt is not potable (use bottled). This does NOT mean you can’t brush your teeth, face or fruits with tap water.

– There is talk everywhere that there is a virus here that you can catch. The TRUTH is that you may get unwell (NOT MANDATORY), which is caused by the many spices in the food because they are different and we are not used to them. The malaise consists of: vomiting and upset stomach or one of the two and passes in a day or two. Medicine from another countries do NOT work because it is not a virus. One of the effective medications for this purpose is the antibiotic:

  Tinifloxacin 600 mg.

It is taken 1 tablet in the morning and in the evening and you can find it in any pharmacy.

  • For transport, you can use taxis, which are available around the clock. Depending on the distance, prices vary. Before agreeing on the amount, do not get into the car.
  • In the Shops – there are no fixed prices, so it is normal to haggle EVERYWHERE. Prices are fixed only in large supermarkets such as Abu Ashara and Metro.
  • Passports and documents – you don’t need to bring them with you. No one will check you in Egypt. Use the safe in the hotel room, because the hotel is not responsible for any theft. Only for the Cairo and Luxor excursions, you will need to take the passport with you.
  • After arriving at the airport and exiting the gate, your path leads to the counter, where you will receive a Visa. You present your passport and a small card that you fill in with your details and where you will be staying. The visa is paid in dollars, and the price in many cases depends on the insistence of the employee, but the standard amount is:
  1.  Organized groups with tour operators: $25-$27
  2.  For those who arrive self-organized $30
  3.  You get a Visa sticker in your passport quickly in a few minutes, which is valid for 45 days.
  4.  In case you have enough nerves, you can also pay at the bank at the airport, where you will not give the difference as a tip, and you will pay $25. It takes more time there.
  • In Egypt, everyone expects or asks for a tip, which should not make you angry or nervous. Due to the low salaries, this is accepted as an additional means of earning money and is absolutely normal. Of course, you are not obliged to give if you don’t want to. In the hotel, if you want to give a tip for cleaning the room, 1$ is enough left on the bed, because otherwise they won’t touch it.
  • Importing a drone into Egypt is prohibited, as is photographing the police or military, even if they happen to be in the picture. If they just see you, they will make a remark and make you delete the photo.
  • Taking stones, sand, rapans, shells, corals as souvenirs is ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN / this does not include the souvenir shops where you buy them /. It is a question of accidentally found on the ground or on the beach. For this act, the law gives 5 years of imprisonment, because it is considered that you are exporting the cultural heritage of Egypt. The law is the same for broken coral.
  • The temperature of the sea water in the biggest winter, which is January and February, does not fall below 23 degrees. The deeper the water, the warmer it is.
  • The appropriate time to visit Egypt is the end of September, October, November and December, as it is 26 degrees on New Year’s Day. Then at the end of April, March and May it gets quite hot.
I hope that the information that I have specially selected based on frequently asked questions from my clients has been useful to you! Of course, I am always available if you want to ask something that is important to you! And now it’s time to prepare your luggage, because Egypt is waiting for you!
